Marginal rate at withdrawal
Uses 2026 federal and provincial marginal-rate brackets published for 2026 planning. This ignores tax withheld at source, pension income splitting, Home Buyers' Plan repayments, and other adjustments on your actual return. Reference data only; confirm with your Notice of Assessment or a qualified professional. See the methodology.
How this withdrawal tax estimate works
Canada taxes RRSP withdrawals as ordinary income in the year you receive them. This calculator adds your withdrawal to the other taxable income you enter, then takes the difference in total federal plus provincial tax, the same progressive method the RRSP tax savings calculator uses in reverse for contributions. It does not model withholding slips your institution may remit; those are prepayments toward this liability, not a separate rate.
For contribution room and upfront deduction savings, use the contribution calculator. For TFSA room after a withdrawal, see the TFSA room calculator.
Every figure on PlainRRSP is rendered directly from official Canada Revenue Agency registered-plan limits and each province's published marginal-rate schedule, no number is typed in by an editor. Bracket tables are queried live from the published federal and provincial schedules stored in the PlainRRSP database. See our editorial standards & corrections policy, the methodology behind these numbers, the public data change log, or report a data error. Data current as of 2026 tax year.
